This year marks the 55th Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival 2024. Celebrate the eve of the Sendai Tanabata Festival with 16,000 fireworks illuminating the summer night sky!
Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival
This fireworks display began in 1970 as the eve of the Sendai Tanabata Festival. Held in the city, it is one of Sendai's most representative events, attracting approximately 450,000 visitors from Japan and overseas every year. There will also be food stalls set up around the fireworks venue, where you can enjoy Japanese festival food such as cotton candy, shaved ice, yakisoba, and takoyaki.
