Maenohara Onsen Sayano Yudokoro
Speaking of natural hot springs, Hakone and Yugawara are famous in the suburbs of Tokyo, but there is a place where you can enjoy a natural hot spring in Tokyo even if you can't go far due to travel schedules. It is just 30 minutes from Ikebukuro Station, and traditional Japanese architecture and a beautiful Japanese garden will welcome you.
About Sayano Yudokoro
Sayano Yudokoro uses a splashing method to supply hot water to bathtubs. In other words, hot water is supplied directly from the ground where hot water naturally springs. The dull greenish-brown coloured hot water is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, and fatigue recovery. On top of the indoor and outdoor hot spring baths and sauna, you can enjoy a hot stone spa (Ganbanyoku in Japanese) and massages for extra fees. During their business hours, you can take a hot spring any time, so you can enjoy it all day long.
In case you are not comfortable with taking hot springs with strangers, you can reserve a private bath. However, The Itabashi Ward rule prohibits mixed bathing for anyone older than seven, regardless of whether they are a married couple or a family.
Enjoy delicious food
Sayano Yudokoro also has a restaurant and their food is delicious. Especially, soba noodles, tempura and sashimi bowls. The restaurant has a garden view and you can choose either a low table without chairs or a high table with chairs. If you prefer a quiet and private space, you can book a private room in advance for an additional fee. There are three types of rooms, and even if you can't speak Japanese, you can make a reservation from the official website.
After soaking in the hot spring, pamper your body and stomach with a cold drink and delicious food!
